Jump the Fence

Chloe Charbonneau

jump the fence.
crouch
down,
surround sound.

cut the cord.
i could
cut
right through
this pain
we try to
name over and
over again.

shake the sheets,
deep ache.
i could
take it.
i take it from
you every night.

organ donor:
carve it
out.
muffled shout shoved
into a pleading,
a begging.
beg for it. “beg for it.”

whiplash.
head cracked.
held down,
surround sound.

stripped bare, skin
stained. our bodies
strained until
they're broken
in, broken into, broke in

to let it out.
muffled shout.
let it in.
i let you
in, i’ll let you
begin, begin.
jump the fence.

——-

Wallow

we wallow in
the here, and now
the there, and then
we wake to find
one, another.

you say, “i am
forming around
you.” i want to
become a shape
worthy of your wallowing.

——-

Good Goes

good goes
so fast
fumbling
from my
foresight–

catch it.
please hold
on. a
little
longer.

try this:
take good,
cocoon
it in
your fist,

take these:
fingers
to wrap
around
your own.

we’ve got
good now,
we’ll take
the rest
in stride.
